My Hiking Vacation at Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon
If it weren't for the professional care of Dr. Geralyn Cejka, Dr. of Chiropractic, and Walter Murphy, Physical Therapist, I would have had to cancel my recent National Parks hiking vacation.
At the end of July, I was hiking in Acadia National Park and stepped off a high rock crunching my left hip. The pain came on gradually until I was favoring my left leg and could hardly lie flat on my stomach. Dr. Cejka saw me immediately upon my return home. She adjusted her table just to fit the limitations of how flat I could lie without pain. Initially, she thoroughly examined every vertebrae in my back to determine the cause and source of the pain. She gently adjusted me with her Activator and carefully helped me up from her table. .
Over the next 2 months, Dr. Cejka restored the health in my hip and got me back to health augmenting a Home Exercise Program that her partner, Walter Murphy, Physical Therapist, had designed for me. I thought I was going to have to cancel my vacation, but I made progress quickly and saw that I would be healthy enough to keep my schedule. Walter even coached me on hiking with hiking sticks and Dr. Geralyn set up a hiking workout schedule starting at 15 minutes/day up to 2 hours/day the week before I left. While on vacation, I hiked 3/4 mile down into the Grand Canyon and back up with no pain - just a little fatigue at the end of the day. I never would have made it on my vacation without the committed care and professionalism of Assabet Valley Chiropractic and Physical Therapy.
